Man arrested with 5 uncut diamonds─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:25 Sun, 28 Apr 2019
The Hawks in the Northern Cape says it has discovered that a 44-year-old man, who was arrested in possession of uncut diamonds, acted alone in a failed attempt to sell them.
Spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi, tells OFM News that Khutso Moeti was arrested last week Tuesday through a joint intelligence-driven operation between the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Unit and Crime Intelligence.
She says he has since made a brief appearance at the Springbok Magistrate’s Court on Friday for possessing uncut diamonds and is again expected to appear on 28 May 2019, after being released on a warning.
Mnisi says the team received information about the attempted sale and ruled out any further arrests.
“Moeti was spotted in Springbok and was immediately arrested and the team managed to confiscate five (5) diamonds and our investigations revealed that he was acting alone,” says Mnisi.
