Mangaung's poor road infrastructure in spotlight during march | News Article

Poor road infrastructure is expected to be in the spotlight on Monday during a march by taxi operators from Turflaagte in the Free State.

In a statement, the operators say they will hand over their memorandum of demands at the offices of the executive mayor or city manager in Bloemfontein.

They say this follows after numerous complaints were highlighted by operators over roads conditions which they say are inaccessible and cost them a lot during damages to their vehicles. The march comes three days after the Mangaung Metro Municipality mayor, Olly Mlamleli, publicly announced the Hauweng Integrated Public Transport Network (IPTN) project, which was marred by controversy during when a group of irate locals threatened to disrupt the event in Phahameng held at Sechaba. Participants are expected to converge at Ramkraal at around 9 am.
