DA hands over dossier to NPA with alleged evidence against Magashule─── PULANE CHOANE 07:23 Sat, 04 May 2019
The Leader of the Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimaine, as well as the leader of the party in the Free State, Patricia Kopane, took to the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) offices in Pretoria on Friday.
They handed over what they allege is a dossier packed with hard evidence against Ace Magashule of his alleged involvement in corruption in the province during his tenure as Premier of the Free State from 2009 to 2018.
Speaking to the eNCA, Maimane said that this follows after the party had already laid several charges against Magashule for his alleged involvement in various deals, including one where he is also reported to have enabled his daughter’s company to benefit from a housing deal in Vogelfontein, Bethlehem.
Kopane spoke about the widely reported R150 million Vogelfontein housing project and remarked that contrary to popular belief, the evidence the party has submitted to the NPA is based on the party’s own investigations into Magashule and is not based on the claims made by investigative journalist Pieter Louis Myburgh in his latest book, “Gangster State: Unravelling Magashule’s Web of Capture in the Free State”.
The two DA leaders also denied claims that this was an electioneering tactic the party was employing, considering that the country’s national elections are just five days away.
Kopane said letters she in her capacity as a member of the provincial legislature, sent to the legislature and parliament, also form part of the evidence pack they handed over to the NPA today.
Myburgh’s controversial book also formed part of this pack. OFM News could not get hold of the ANC’s spokesperson, Dakota Legoete, for comment on the matter.
