This, after residents in Rammolutsi, Viljoenskroon, and parts of Kroonstad, have been without water since the early hours of the morning. 

Municipal spokesperson, Dika Kheswa, says this is due to a burst water pipe that is affecting the mainline from the reservoir.

He says the municipal technical team is on the ground trying to resolve the problem and can assure residents that they will soon have running water.

This municipality is amongst the few Free State municipalities that have recently been marred with corruption and maladministration allegations.

It made national headlines just weeks ago when residents in Kroonstad and Steynsrus embarked on service delivery protests that saw two municipal vehicles and a local post office being torched. 

During last week’s Special Votes, unrest broke out in the town of Viljoenskroon where 24 people were arrested in connection with a community hall and a clinic that were set alight by protestors.
