"We must engage Myburgh’s book because it makes dangerous accusations" - FS ANC─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:15 Wed, 22 May 2019
Tough and robust debate is expected on Thursday over the investigative Journalist, Pieter-Louis Myburgh’s book on the accusations he made against former Free State premier, Ace Magashule.
The book will be discussed at the University of the Free State by individuals from across all spectrums.
The African National Congress (ANC) Free State spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, tells OFM News that the book - titled Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule's Web of Capture - makes dangerous allegations against the current ANC Secretary-General (SG), Magashule.
Myburgh’s book places Magashule at the centre of massive corruption that took place during his tenure as the premier of the province. One particular issue which has piqued national interest in the book is the controversial Vrede Dairy Farm project.
He says the ANC took a decision to robustly engage the book because it lacks intellectual capacity, adding the specific details of the book will discussed and challenged at the event. Meeko says Myburgh seeks to denigrate the image of Magashule in what he calls a "public court".
Earlier News 24 reported that Louis Myburgh is facing a R10m defamation suit from Durban-based businessman Vikash Narsai over revelations in his book. However, Louis Myburgh was also quoted by other media saying he has been in constant contact with his legal representatives, and there is no summons on the table after Magashule threatened to take legal action against him.
