Security company’s employees disrupt services at NW hospital─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:06 Wed, 29 May 2019
Healthcare services at the Taung District Hospital in the North West have been disrupted by a security company’s employees on Wednesday morning, 29 May 2019.
These employees, tasked with responsibilities of safety at the hospital, are staging a protest against the Provincial Department of Health. The departmental spokesperson for Health, Tebogo Lekgethwane, tells OFM News that the security company claims that the department has not been paying it for over two months now. He says, contrary to the allegations, the department found out that it was one of the companies that have been paid VAT twice for services delivered and as a result, all the accounts have been taken to the provincial government for further scrutiny. Lekgethwane says despite the disruptions, the department has since asked for intervention by local enforcement in that area.
Lekgethwane says the department has been aware of the planned protest since early yesterday morning.
