Trio remains in custody after allegedly dumping woman's body | News Article

Three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Brits in the North West will remain in custody until June the 10th when they will be expected to re-appear in court.

The trio, who goes by the names of Thomas Pearson (36), Lodewikus Swanepoel (49) and Salaamudien Anthony (30), was arrested following a police chase after they received a tip-off about three men who dumped the body of a woman in her forties at a farm at Sundrift near Brits. Police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, told OFM News reports suggest that farm workers at Sundrift near Brits saw the suspects who were travelling in a white Volkswagen Golf dumping the body of a woman. They alerted their employer, who reported the incident. The police then chased after the suspects’ vehicle that was spotted on the R511 between Brits and Thabazimbi. She says the suspects were arrested after they made a U-turn during the chase and collided with a police vehicle.

She says it is alleged that the suspects offered the woman a lift in the Brits area, then later killed her.

The woman’s body has now been identified as the 36-year-old Pauline Sehlahla from Soshanguve. She was found with numerous injuries, including multiple stab wounds and a fractured skull.

Myburgh says all suspects are facing murder charges and investigations into the case continue.
