No leads yet in second #PelonomiAttack | News Article

Despite police investigations into the second Pelonomi Hospital attack in one week - the latest involving a 44-year-old female doctor at the hospital in Bloemfontein on Saturday morning - police are yet to link any suspects to the crime.

This is according to police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, commenting on the crime where the doctor was robbed at gunpoint at the hospital's main entrance at roughly 05:15.

OFM News previously reported the hospital made international headlines this week when a medical intern bit off most of a man's tongue during an alleged attempted rape while the intern was on duty.

Following the second incident, OFM News has learnt that the University of the Free State (UFS) sent out notices asking interns and medical students to not report for duty on Saturday. It was also confirmed that five additional security personnel were brought in, in an effort to beef up security at Pelonomi Hospital.

Mbambo says no-one has been arrested and they are still looking for possible suspects, adding security guards who wanted to help the doctor were threatened by the three men, one of whom was armed. An empty magazine was found at the crime scene.
