Residents took to the streets in a display of anger towards the murder of Jolandre Tolli, a Grade 11 pupil at Weslaan High School. Following the incident, a 29-year-old man has been taken in for questioning by the police after Tolli’s half-naked body was discovered by two elderly women who were collecting wood.OFM News previously reported that the Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, said the man was questioned following their murder investigation into the matter.

This is at least the second report of a gruesome murder of a woman in Central South Africa in a few weeks, following the murder of the Welkom college student, Naledi Lethoba. She was found in May with a knife stuck in her neck, her lower body and face burnt, and her breasts cut off. Mooi told a local newspaper that Tolli’s throat had been slit and she was apparently found covered in blood. She said the child's body was found roughly 100 metres from where she lived with her mother, Lisa Tolli.

“The police request anyone who may have information about this incident to contact Sergeant Jacobus April on 082-301-9978 or the Crime Stop Line 08600 10111. All information received will be treated as strictly confidential,” Mooi said.
