Metsimaholo residents to benefit from free public wifi─── 15:32 Tue, 18 Jun 2019
Residents of the Metsimaholo local municipality, the youth in particular, are set to benefit from the recently launched partnership between the Free State provincial government and Cell C, in providing free Wi-Fi to the Free State public.
This is according to Felix Mokoena, Cell C marketing manager. He was speaking at the Africa Public Service Day in Sasolburg on Tuesday.
He says the programme, which was rolled in Mangaung last month, will now be implemented in Metsimaholo in the next few weeks.
Mokoena says as the country moves towards the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is imperative to create an environment that is conducive to creating new forms of jobs, especially for young people.
He says the mutually beneficial agreement with the province will see large scale rollout of free Public Access Wi-Fi across all the municipalities in the province.
He adds this initiative paves the way for public access Wi-Fi for the province.
The proposed project will provide more youth with faster and more reliable Internet access, especially those from previously disadvantaged communities.
He added that they believe that there is a positive correlation between the availability of internet access for the youth to enhance their lives for the better.
