Some residents of Bloemfontein, Dewetsdorp and Wepener might be without water for the next 36 hours due to a pipe burst on the R702.
According to Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson Qondile Khedama, the Bloem Water Operations and Maintenance team completed planned maintenance activities yesterday morning and during the filling of the line, a pipe burst near Lieuwkop Farm was discovered.
This resulted in an emergency shutdown of the line and technicians are repairing the pipe burst on an urgent basis.
All residents in Bloemfontein are requested to use water sparingly to avoid further interruptions in supply.
Water tankers and jojo tanks will be provided as and where required.
