At least 31 forensic investigations are currently ongoing in the North West, with 21 of them being carried out in provincial departments and 10 of those in municipalities across the province.

Also, 20 senior managers among others are facing disciplinary processes across various departments.  This was revealed by Premier Job Mokgoro, while delivering his first state of the province address at the provincial legislature in Mahikeng.

Fifteen municipalities across the province have been put under administration for failing to render basic service delivery due to corruption and maladministration.  This also follows after four municipalities - the Mahikeng, Madibeng, Dr Ruth Semogotsi Mompati and Moretele municipalities - were found to have illegally invested a total of R314 million of taxpayers money with the VBS Mutual Bank.

OFM News previously reported that Mokgoro revealed that at least three criminal cases have been handed over to the NPA for prosecution in relation to the troubles experienced at the provincial scholar transport system. He also announced that five other cases of officials implicated in wrongdoing have been sent to the relevant departments for them to institute disciplinary action against the officials.

Mokgoro said the SIU is at a very advanced stage with investigations into the Scholar Transport Contracts in the Province.
