WATCH: DA councillor in FS disciplined over video─── 07:49 Tue, 02 Jul 2019
The DA in the Free State reacted on a video that is making the rounds on social media in which one of its councillors at the Moqhaka Municipality in the Free State is involved in a public scuffle and seems intoxicated.
The party’s provincial chairperson Annelie Lotriet said they already started disciplinary procedures against councillor Mpho Ramathibe.
The municipality, that includes Kroonstad, is for the second time in less than a month in the news because of a video.
Early last month its municipal manager, Simon Mqwathi, posted a video of himself while being on the run from the police for over a week. He was implicated in an alleged dodgy tender fraud deal and was supposed to hand himself over to the police, but instead went on the run.
In the video on social media Mqwathi was saying he is okay and God was on his side. He was later arrested and appeared in court on charges of fraud, corruption and defeating the end of justice.
