As the Northern Cape premier, Zamani Saul, continues with his strides of trying to instil the culture of cost-cutting measures, the expenses of his State of the Province Address on Friday has been slashed with R1 million as part of his savings.
This is according to the spokesperson of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature, Mpho Masina. Masina says no red carpet will be rolled out for guests and dignitaries and they will be housed under one roof.
Masina says they are expecting at least 3000 people from five different regions which include Frances Baard, John Taolo Gaetsewe and Frances Baard Saul is expected to shed some light on how his provincial governments intend on dealing with fraud and corruption is their municipalities.
The issues of scholar transport, youth unemployment and job creation, among others, are also expected to come under heavy scrutiny. Saul will further be expected to give details on his cost-cutting measures and he's also expected to give clarity on how he exactly plans on scrapping the tender system in his province.
Earlier the SABC reported that Saul’s plans include the selling of the premier’s official residence, in order to fund the Health Department and not purchasing any new cars for the executives. The report further said with over 20 ambulances already delivered and another 40 promised before the end of the financial year, Saul has a particular focus on fixing the province’s ailing Health Department. His other priority is education.
