He will be laid to rest at Notlatla Village graveyard. Mokoena was killed earlier this month at his home in Fichardt Park, a suburb in Bloemfontein, Free State. It is alleged that at the night of his murder, he was confronted by two men in the bathroom after which a scuffle followed. 

They then dragged him to the bedroom where he was shot in the head in front of his wife, 51-year-old Kelebogile Mokoena. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, cellphones and the deceased’s car, which was later found abandoned in Lourier Park. Soon after the incident, police arrested Kelebogile in connection to Mokoena’s murder. She has since abandoned her bail application in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court and will remain in custody until 8 August.
