The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but ward councillor, Tihedi Moahi who was on the scene, says it is believed there was an attempted robbery at the Vaal Rock clinic before the fire started.

Moahi told OFM News police were on the scene at around 05:00 in the morning, but neither they nor the forensic unit could enter and inspect the area to determine the cause of the fire - as at that stage it was still dangerous.

Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says a forensic report into the incident will be released on Monday.
