Department attending to #NationalHospital water leakage─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:54 Fri, 16 Aug 2019
The Department of Health in the Free State says no patient at the National Hospital was negatively affected by the recent water leakage at the Bloemfontein hospital.
The departmental spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says the leakage that led to the power outages at the hospital comes as a result of the construction underway at the hospital.
He adds that a similar incident occurred on Thursday after workers tampered with the water pipes. OFM News previously reported that the incident forced nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel to treat patients in the dark or resort to candlelight, while in other wards some were forced to deal with flooded floors.
OFM News previously reported that the incident forced nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel to treat patients in the dark or resort to candlelight, while in other wards some were forced to do with flooded floors. Mvambi, however, says the department has swiftly attended to the matter.
He says it is unfortunate that this happened while they are upgrading the hospital because they want the patients to experience better health care.
He adds that the hospital is one of the oldest. He has further called on the public not to panic because the department is attending to the situation.
