The plan forms part of the critical components of Spatial Planning and Land Use Management and it will assist in the development and economic growth of the municipality.

The plan was officially presented to the Executive Mayor of the Moqhaka Local Municipality, Lucky Phooko, by the Housing Development Agency. The National Department of Human Settlements congratulated the municipality regarding this great achievement and said Moqhaka is amongst few municipalities in the country that met the requirements of the plan.

The Housing and Spatial Plan (HSP) is established and drawn up to address the inadequacy of the IDP in making provision for housing in the Moqhaka area. The HSP strategy intends to form and guide the municipality in the allocation of the resources with respect to housing.

Phooko explained that the objective is to optimise the usage of limited resources available, to prioritise housing projects and to ensure more integrated development through coordinating development activities of the roleplayers.
