This came after he was arrested on Tuesday for sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who is also a student at the university, in one of the residences on campus this past weekend.

According to police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, the incident took place after the students attended an after party at Villa Bravano hostel, after attending an event held at the University on Saturday.

Covane explained that the complainant, who attended the party with her friends, alleged that the suspect forced her to his room when she was on her way to her residence, which was also on campus. She escaped from his room after someone knocked on the suspect’s door.

The suspect was granted bail and will be reappearing in court on October 3.
