#AmINext: Police condemn alleged university rape social media posts─── 16:20 Thu, 05 Sep 2019
Recent posts stating that a student from the University of the Free State have been raped in the restrooms of the university’s Examination Centre’s restroom on Monday, has been confirmed by police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, to be false.
He stated that there was no reported incident linked to social media posts that allege that this case happened on the campus.
OFM News previously reported that the campus’ spokesperson, Lacea Loader, also confirmed in a press release on Tuesday that no such incident have been reported to the institution’s Protection Services nor the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), but urged for anyone with information to come forward.
This after South Africans have been in a frenzy over numerous violent crimes against women and children that made headlines throughout South Africa. Some have taken it to social media to express their concern and to also report these incidents, but unfortunately some of these incidences have been reported to be false.
