Baby found at sewerage plant─── 06:27 Tue, 24 Sep 2019
Maiketso Phakoe, a Masilonyana municipality worker in Theunissen, found a newborn baby dumped at a sewerage plant on Sunday.
According to Phakoe workers have to deal with such traumatic incidents every second week if not once a month. She alleges workers have resorted to burying these babies in shallow graves, because police refuse to attend to their calls, saying they can't handle the high volume of these types of cases.
Meanwhile, polices spokesperson Mamello Mokhuwane says the police will have to investigate these allegations, because no police officer should refuse to serve the community whenever needed.
Speaker of the Masilonyana Municipality, Dimakatso Molise, says they have learned with regret about these barbaric deeds, and adds she will take the matter up with Premier's office.
