Kimberley without water during new pump’s construction─── 12:39 Tue, 08 Oct 2019
More than 30 suburbs in Kimberley in the Northern Cape have been without water due to the rebuilding of an old water plant. The new pump station is complete, according to the Sol Plaatje municipality’s spokesperson, Sello Matsie.
Matsie said the municipality has been building a new pump station worth R60 million and is now connecting it to the pipeline. An estimated 75% of the residents have been receiving water, however, at a later stage those in the suburbs were struggling with water supply.
“We told residents to prepare themselves as there will be no water for two days and no water tanks will be provided as residents previously destroyed the water tanks.”
