The Executive Mayor of Rustenburg in North West, Mpho Khonou, will deliver a message of support to the families and friends mourning their loss.

Earlier this week Khonou and the Speaker of the council made a consequential visit to the two families. In one incident the woman was allegedly stabbed in the neck by her boyfriend and died in his hands, while in the other incident the woman was allegedly shot and killed by her constable boyfriend, who then turned the gun on himself.

It is alleged that the police officer was having an argument with his girlfriend on Sunday night 6 October 2019 when his mother heard a noise from the outside room he was staying in and tried to intervene, however, the door was locked. Moments later two gunshots were fired. The door was then forced open. The two bodies of the police officer and his girlfriend were found lying on the floor. A case of murder is being investigated. The cause of the incident is still unknown.
