This is the theory of the state prosecutor Johan De Vries while opposing the bail application of the alleged killer, Ramolefe Masiu, on Thursday. Masiu appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate to persuade Magistrate Ryan Ishmail to release him on bail. 

He appeared for his alleged involvement in the killing of Qeya Jonas Tshabalala, a Hawks investigator who was fatally shot whilst he was attending to a complaint in Phelindaba in Mangaung last year.

 Meanwhile, the investigating officer Buyisile Jonas, testified to the court today the more than once where the evaded arrest in two hospitals in Bloemfontein National Hospital and in Lesotho.

He told the court that a suspect was linked to the killing of Tshabalala following a blood trail. He adds that while at the National Hospital in Bloemfontein the accused was whisked away by Sprinkaan Maema - who is serving a 33-year jail sentence –and the accused to Lesotho. 

In his last court appearance, Masiu denied that he knew Maema, but De Vries today in court proved otherwise and it was revealed that the tow grew up together in Lesotho in two different villages which include, Haleponse and Masiu. Jona testified that Ramolefe Masiu has a warrant of arrest issued against him, and a previous pending matter. The two separate matters - apart from Tshabalala murder case - include robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition committed in Park road and Bloemspruit committed between 2018 and 2019. 

Ishmail denied the accused bail, citing lack exceptional circumstance and also described him as a possible flight risk who is likely to evade his trial after it was established that he is in the country illegally.
