It is believed a fight broke out between the two learners on Thursday, when one rushed away from school and came back with a knife - repeatedly stabbing a learner who was trying to mediate the fight.

The injured learner was rushed to Bophelong Hospital where he received stitches and later discharged. Spokesperson of North West education department, Elias Malindi, says they are doing their best to ensure that learners are safe at schools.

Malindi further said a case was opened at Mmabatho police station and the alleged perpetrator  will be provided with an alternative examination centre since his safety can not be guaranteed at the school.
