#Matric2019: Grade 12 pupils in limbo amidst Boitumelong protests─── LUCKY NKUYANE 05:49 Wed, 23 Oct 2019
At least 275 grade 12 pupils in the embattled Boitumelong Township near Bloemhof are in limbo amidst protests by angry residents in that area.
Reports say five buses organised by the Department of Education were denied entry to the troubled informal settlement.
One resident told OFM News that learners will not be allowed to write their exams as long as their demands have not been met.
This, as residents demand that members of the anti-gang committee be released from jail after they were recently arrested for various crimes which include kidnapping, assault, and murder.
This is not the first time residents disrupted schooling and business activities in that area.
On Monday some businesses were brought to a standstill after residents embarked on a total shutdown of the area.
Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, told OFM News that these residents blocked the N12 Highway linking Klerksdorp and Christiana.
That evening irate residents pelted two trucks and one light motor vehicle with stones.
