ANC calls for calm in NC town─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:56 Tue, 29 Oct 2019
The ANC in the Northern Cape is appealing to residents of Ritchie not to resort to violence or take the law into their own hands.
This, after a municipal office was damaged after it was torched during a service delivery protest on Monday. Residents in the small town situated a few kilometres outside Kimberley, have for weeks been disgruntled over what they called a lack of service delivery by the Sol Plaatje Municipality.
Police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, has confirmed the municipal building was set alight by protesters and a case of arson is under investigation. He is yet to confirm any overnight arrests.
The party has meanwhile called for calm and urged residents to refrain from any form of violence.
