#PrellerSquareShooting: State witness feels intimidated─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:49 Thu, 07 Nov 2019
The 41-year-old state witness in the murder trial of former City Med MD, Louis Siemens, brought a motion forward that he feels threatened by the accused persons in the matter while testifying on Thursday 7 November in the Free State High Court.
Judge Pitso Molitsoane says the matter was brought to his attention that Ohuliseng Selemela, who is testifying and helping the state narrate the video evidence, informed him that he's not feeling comfortable.
Selemela, a former waiter at Annie’s Country Kitchen, which is at the entrance to the Preller Square Shopping Complex’s basement parking lot, is wrapping up his testimony in the trial where Stanley Bakili and seven others are standing trial in the murder case of Bloemfontein businessman Siemens in May 2018. Responding to the concerns of Selemela, State prosecutor Johan de Nysschen also confirmed that the matter was indeed brought to his attention.
Meanwhile, the state has relayed a video where a person identified as accused number four, Mojalefa Jali Molusi, grabs Siemens and pushes him towards the other side of the basement in the presence of a person identified as the self-confessed murderer, Xolisile Mbebetho, who is serving a 22-year prison term for the murder.
The men on trial are Bakili, Molebatsi Mogoera, Kagiso Chabane, Molusi, Moeketsi Lesia, Karabo Tau, Sizwe Mpati and Clive Tshivenga. Part of the video shows Bakili with Siemens inside the restaurant where the two are signing or writing on pages after a lengthy discussion. The centre of attraction again in the video was where Bakili was captured outside of the restaurant, moving across the pavement and road towards the basement where Siemens was fatally shot.
Meanwhile, Judge Molitsoane made an order that the state witness Selemela not be cross-examined by the defence team and give way to the Auditor who will be testifying on the financial records between the deceased and Bakili on Friday 8 November. Judge Molitsoane has since adjourned the matter to tomorrow.
