NC MEC suspects sabotage | News Article

The MEC of Health in the Northern Cape, Mase Manopole, suspects sabotage after the Galeshewe Day Hospital in Kimberley has been burdened with unexpected water cuts over the past few weeks.

Manopole tells OFM News that a team has been instructed to investigate the incident. She says that each time pipes are replaced, cut water pipes are discovered and therefore the department suspects foul play.

Manopole says the department has a contingency plan in place to ensure that the facility is never without water. She also added that more security officers have been deployed to monitor the situation. Manopole asks surrounding communities to help the department to find the culprits and appeals to residents to report suspects at their nearest police station. Furthermore, OFM News previously reported that Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the Free State has also suspected sabotage and foul play after several weeks of water cuts in Meloding, Virginia, following a major pipe burst.

The municipality suspects a syndicate is the mastermind behind the ordeal. It is of the opinion that it is the criminal elements’ agenda to destabilise the municipality by instigating the community to rise against it.
