#PrellerSquareShooting: FS Health HOD to investigate leaked information | News Article

The high-level information about the issuing of bed licences discussed between alleged murder-mastermind, Stanley Bakili, and slain CityMed MD, Louis Siemens, suggests that the information was leaked from within the Free State Department of Health.

The Bloemfontein High Court heard this yesterday during the brief testimony of the Head of the Department, David Motau, in the trial where Bakili and seven other men stand accused of Siemens’ murder and extortion, among others.

Motau was responding to a question from State prosecutor, Johan de Nysschen, on why Bakili seemed to be in possession of such valuable information about the process of issuing bed licences.

He told De Nysschen that these discussions normally take place in a high-level meeting involving the department’s seven-member hospital licensing committee, and this could only suggest that the information was leaked.

Motau, outside the court, told OFM News that an investigation would be launched to determine the culprit responsible for leaking this critical information.

On Tuesday, De Nysschen handed over cell phone data evidence containing WhatsApp text messages between Bakili and Siemens implicating persons cited as Motau, and former senior legal advisor from the department, Justice Vinger, among others.

Meanwhile, Motau admitted that the process of investigation would be difficult because they would not know where to begin with the scope of the investigation.

Bakili joins Molebatsi Mogoera, Kagiso Chabane, Mojalefa Jali Molusi, Moeketsi Lesia, Clive Tshivenga Karabo Tau, and Sizwe Mpati in the dock.

SAPS member, Captain Cathrine Oosthuizen, is one of the people expected to give further financial analysis testimony.

Earlier during the bail application by Bakili in November 2018, Oosthuizen labelled him as a flight risk and told Magistrate Marlene Marais that if he was to be released on bail he would evade his trial.
