NUM prioritizes plans for youth following BFN conference | News Article

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has officially elected new members for its youth structure.

The National Youth Elective Conference that took place at the Philip Sanders Resort in Bloemfontein, saw the union elect its leaders from different provinces, with their National Chair hailing all the way from the Limpopo province.

NUM’s Free State spokesperson, Isaac Mtshotwana, told OFM News the new structure has major tasks at hand nearing the new year.

Coupled with growing the union, he highlights that advocating for the plight faced by the working class youth and those needing employment opportunities will be among their 2020 list of priorities.

While the positions of the national chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary, deputy secretary and treasurer were dominated by candidates from Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng, Zakhele Kontsane from the Free State was voted into the Sports and Recreation portfolio.
