The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) says rescue efforts are continuing at the Tau Lekoa Mine in Orkney in the North West, where four miners are still trapped underground.
The union’s Regional Secretary, Masibulele Naki, tells OFM News the miners were trapped after a rockfall on Friday. He says of the five miners who were trapped, the proto teams have only managed to rescue one with injuries and has taken him to hospital for medical treatment. Naki adds that the proto teams are working tirelessly day and night to ensure the four remaining employees are brought to the surface and receive medical attention.
