Bfn hijackers expected in court tomorrow | News Article

Three men arrested for the alleged hijacking of a Toyota Hilux in Khayelitsha in Bloemfontein on Tuesday 10 December 2019, are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s court by Thursday 12 December 2019.

The police spokeswoman, Thandi Mbambo, says the hijacked vehicle was found parked at the East End industrial area. The suspects were arrested after a chase ensued when the police spotted the suspects’ white Volkswagen Polo Sedan which was used during the hijacking.

The suspects were blocked in by the police after they entered an open garage at a house in Bochabela. Upon the arrest, the police found a firearm that was used in the hijacking, as well as the cell phones that belong to the victim. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects is linked to a number of hijackings in the Mangaung area. The suspects will face charges of the possession of an unlicensed firearm, hijacking, the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and the possession of stolen goods.

Meanwhile, the SAPS provincial commissioner, Solly Lesia, said criminals should be warned that multi-disciplinary enforcement agencies are working tirelessly during this period to ensure that citizens enjoy their well-deserved holidays and hard-earned cash, and they will not allow criminals to spoil this jolly season.
