It is reported that the mother slept with her two month old baby after a drinking spree on Tuesday, and in the morning the baby was dead. 

North West police spokesperson Lt Col Amanda Funani says it is suspected that the mother slept on top of the toddler without realizing. 

The following morning police, paramedics and forensic officials were called to the scene were the toddler was declared dead. 

Funani told OFM news that the lifeless body of the toddler was taken to the mortuary for further investigations including a post-mortem. The mother is expected to appear before the Ottosdal magistrate court this coming week.
