News just in: Pastor in #MokoenaMurder shot dead─── 12:06 Mon, 30 Dec 2019
The 39-year old Pastor alleged to have organised the murder of Bloemfontein businessman and farmer, Lucas Mokoena, earlier this year, has been shot and killed on Monday (30 December 2019).
Details remain sketchy at the moment, however Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, confirms the deceased, Elvis “Sonnyboy” Galeboe, was shot four times in the chest, arm and hip outside of his residence in Freedom Square in Bloemfontein in the early hours of Monday morning.
Makhele does not indicate how many suspects are believed to have been involved in the incident, but says Galeboe was shot as he exited the vehicle in which he was a passenger, to open the gate to his residence at 2:38 am.
Galeboe reportedly had just returned from socialising at a nightclub in Bochabela Township when he was killed. No arrests have been made in connection with his murder and police’s investigation into the incident continues.
His alleged role in the Mokoena murder
At the time of his murder, Galeboe was accused of playing the role of middleman between the Bloemfontein taxi boss’ wife and accused number one in the case, Kelebogile Mokoena; and the three hitmen who eventually shot the 51-year old businessman in his Fichardpark home in July. The Pastor is believed to have entered into a romantic relationship with accused number one, preceding the murder.
Mokoena's wife allegedly poisoned her own dogs to make it easier for three hit men to gain access to the family house in Schnehage Crescent on July 8. Shortly after 21:35 pm Mokoena arrived at his home and found his wife in the main bedroom after which he proceeded to the bathroom where he found the armed men. A scuffle ensued and he was dragged back to the bedroom where he was shot dead in the head in the presence of his wife.
The three assassins left the scene with the deceased's vehicle, an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones. The vehicle was later recovered in nearby Lourierpark. The hit men remain at large.
Previous cases
Galeboe was an accused in a case that was thrown out of court following the death of a key state witness in Stilfontein near Khuma outside Klerksdorp in the North West. It is alleged that he confessed to paying R5000 to the hit men who kidnapped and killed the woman in 2016.
The pastor is also alleged to have been right in the middle of the 2017 murder of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Sergeant, Preston Titus, in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, for which four people were arrested and charged.
This is a developing story.
