FS: CUT students still not charged | News Article

A large group of CUT students is gathered outside the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in Bloemfontein in the Free State today.

The group seems to be confused and concerned as the fate of the 60 arrested students lies in the hands of justice. OFM News spoke to the court admin clerk, who said the arrested students might not appear in front of the magistrate today. The reason for that being they are still waiting to be charged. The court admin clerk further said if they are charged this morning they will be brought to the court this afternoon.

The EFF Students command chairperson, Bophelo Sebe, says students are not happy.

It alleged that the 60 arrested students are currently at police holding cells in the Batho Police Station, Bloemspruit Police Station, and Bainsvlei Police Station.

The EFF Students Command chairperson, Bophelo Sebe, says they are not happy because the various police stations told them that their students will be charged last night and be released today. He further says they are concerned because some of the arrested students include first-years and students who did not know there were protests on campus.

OFM News reported yesterday that 60 students were arrested for contravening a court interdict at the CUT main campus yesterday. The arrested includes 32 females and 28 females.
