ANC memorial lecture postponed in fear of division─── 11:00 Sat, 29 Feb 2020
The planned memorial lecture for Aubuti Chika by the ANC in Matlosana in the North West has been postponed until further notice due to fear of division.
This, after the Interim provincial committee also arranged a cadre dialogue to take place in Klerksdorp on the same day.
Chika's lecture was supposed to take place at the recreational centre, while the cadre dialogue was scheduled to take place at city hall.
Dr Kenneth Kaunda district regional secretary, Lopang Rothman told OFM News this morning that in the name of unity they decided to not divide members of the ANC and choose to postpone the memorial.
The former North West premier, Supra Mahumapelo was supposed to be the keynote speaker, while former president Jacob Zuma's son, Duduzane Zuma was expected to be a guest speaker.
Rothman said as branches responsible for the preparation of Chika's memorial lecture, they want to give a respectful, memorable and befitting lecture and as such, they could not allow for the events to separate members of the party.
The interim provincial committee has, however, also cancelled their planned dialogue which was expected to address corruption and state capture and minister of correctional services Ronald Lamola was expected as to address members at this event.
Chika is a former Dr Kenneth Kaunda district regional secretary and was assassinated days before the Mangaung conference in 2012 at his home in Alabama.
