Sebokeng residents block road during protest─── 05:21 Tue, 24 Mar 2020
Some residents of Sebokeng in the Vaal yesterday blockaded Moshoeshoe Road, after Eskom officials accompanied by Red Ants personnel, disconnected electricity supply to Sebokeng Zone 12.
Among their grievances, was the interruptions of water supply which they have been experiencing since last week.
Residents also claim there has been no communications from the Emfuleni Local Municipality regarding the water interruptions.
Service delivery has been affected in most areas of the municipality.
This, after the sheriff of the court attached assets belonging to the municipality, over historic and current debt owed to Eskom by the municipality.
The total debt owed by Emfuleni to Eskom stands at R2.3 billion. Last week, the municipality has paid R50 million to Eskom.
