According to one resident, a shop near his residence had been cleared out completely. Police vehicles were seen chasing perpetrators and it is alleged that police managed to arrest some of the suspects. Residents claim to have heard gunshots.

North West police spokesperson, Colonel Adele Myburgh, confirmed to OFM News that six tuck shops belonging to foreign nationals have been looted. She also stated that no gunshots were fired.

Myburgh further added ten suspects between the ages of 18 and 38 have been arrested and that one shop owner was slightly injured during the looting.

"The ten suspects will appear before the Ottosdal magistrate court next Tuesday, 28 April 2020 on charges of burglary on business premises",  said Myburgh.
