A three-week-old baby boy, wrapped in a blanket, was found abandoned next to the road in Klerksdorp in the North West on Thursday morning.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says the boy was found at 4:30, suffering from mild hypothermia.
He says the baby was found on the N12 near Joe Slovo Road, and after assessment by emergency personnel no visible injuries were identified.
After the assessment, the baby was warmed and immediately transported to Klerksdorp Provincial Hospital for further care. Meiring adds that the local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
