This comes after a transformer supplying electricity to the area failed this week due to an overload.

In a statement released by Eskom, it stated that illegal connections in the area are causing a rapid increase in supply which led to the transformer to fail.

Eskom says the same transformer has been replaced twice in one week.

It adds that this is a cause of concern as it is outside the normal lifespan of a transformer.

Eskom further states that the replacement transformers has run out.

The power utility further appeals to residents to remain patient as the process of sourcing another transformer is underway.

Residents are being urged to refrain from illegal connections.
