SGB wants learner expelled after alleged assault─── MARVIN NTSANE 08:00 Sat, 25 Jul 2020
The School Governing body of Motswedi Secondary School in Zeerust, North West, has recommended that the provincial Head of the Education Department (HOD) expel a grade 12 learner.
This after the learner allegedly assaulted a teacher last week.
OFM News reported the pupil was suspended after reportedly head-butting the teacher during a meeting to announce that the school would be closed due to a Covid-19 related case.
The provincial education spokesperson, Elias Malindi, says following a disciplinary hearing with the School Governing Body, it also recommends that he write his Grade 12 final examination at an alternative venue and be taken for anger management counselling.
He says eight other learners who were involved in the same incident have been summoned to the disciplinary hearing.
