This, as South Africa has now breached the 10 000 mark in Coronavirus fatalities. 301 more people died countrywide while the number of infections has increased by 7 712.

North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha says a total of 318 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the province to 21 642.

He says the number of those who have recovered now stands at 11 918 and urges communities to observe Covid-19 regulations and take all precautionary measures.

OFM News on Saturday reported that the North West Covid-19 Command Council has noted some progress in the province, although they highlight that there remains a high need to strengthen Covid-19 community awareness campaigns and tests in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District and other North West districts.

Following their weekly virtual meeting, the Council said the Bojanala Platinum District has in the past three consecutive weeks registered a decrease in confirmed Covid-19 cases, but the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati and other districts still show an increase, which is of great concern.
