#CoronavirusFS: Premier, MEC pay tribute to healthcare workers─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:15 Tue, 11 Aug 2020

A tribute to healthcare practitioners in the public and private sector in the Free State is expected today.
This as the premier, Sisi Ntombela, and the Health MEC, Montseng Tsiu, will be addressing these workers at the Bophelo House in Bloemfontein at three o’clock on Monday afternoon.
The department's spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says Ntombela and Tsiu will live-stream messages of acknowledgment to this department’s workers. He says the purpose of the address is to express gratitude for the role health workers play in the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Mvambi says they will both convey messages of condolences to the loved ones of those who have succumbed to the virus. He adds that the statistics of how many healthcare practitioners have been tested and confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the number of deaths in the province will also be outlined during the streaming.
Meanwhile, according to the latest statistics released by the NICD on 10 August 2020, the total number of confirmed positive cases in the Free State is now 28 909. The province has further recorded 64 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 414. Also, at least 13 039 people in the province have recovered from the virus.
