#ANCvsANC: Axed members blast NW IPC─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:48 Fri, 18 Sep 2020
The axed ANC members in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi District Municipality, which include Vryburg, have launched a scathing attack on the North West ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC).
This follows a decision by the IPC to recall Troika members, which include mayors, speakers, and chief whips, and to disband the Regional Executive Committee (REC) in that municipality.
Following a court bid by this group in the municipality, the ANC regional secretary, Gaolatlhe Kgabo, who has also been axed by the IPC, has described the IPC members as leaders with egos and using what he says is a "legitimate office to advance illegitimate endeavours".
Kgabo says the reasons that were furnished by the IPC to communities for axing Troika members and the disbandment of the REC, are wild and far-reaching allegations.
“As branches of the ANC, led by our regional leadership, we know as a fact that the IPC was never informed by objective facts or any so-called scientific and rigorous assessments of our district municipality, as purported by the IPC. There was never such an assessment on our district municipality and if there is any assessment done by the IPC, it would have been a clandestine, factional assessment done somewhere in a tavern in Potchefstroom”.
On Thursday, the ANC IPC Kenny Morolong told OFM News that the ANC in the province takes court issues as a rumour because no-one has furnished the party with court papers yet.
He also said the ANC decided to recall these members after it had identified the collapse on service delivery, infighting, and municipal leaders relegating their authority to gangsters who he says are now in control of these municipalities. Some of these Troika members who have been affected by this include, amongst others, the Matlosana mayor Maetu Kgaile, Speaker Washington Ntozini, Ditsobotla mayor Daniel Buthelezi, and Dr Ruth Segomotsi District executive mayor Boitumelo Mahlangu, speaker Lerato Setlhake, and chief whip Motaung Moseswa.
