ZamaZama kingpin sentenced after graveyard murder | News Article

The police in the Free State have welcomed the sentencing of a notorious, illegal mining kingpin and two others for the graveyard murder in Odendaalsrus.

The kingpin, Eric David Dumisani Ndlovu (48), also known as David One Eye, and his two accomplices Lefoso Makena Mosia (27) and Molefi Mohloane (56) were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Bloemfontein High Court, sitting in Virginia, for orchestrating the murder of Mahlomola Pin Mokoena (34).

The two accomplices of Ndlovu lured the victim and his friend from Gauteng to Phakisa Cemetery in Odendaalsrus, on good authority that they were going to discuss some future illegal mining work, according to police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele.

On arrival, they met with Ndlovu who asked Mokoena for his money from a previous job, which Mokoena said he did not have. Ndlovu then instructed two of his accomplices to kill Mokoena execution-style.

‘’Mokoena's Gauteng friend managed to run away and reported the matter to his police friend, who referred him to the then Investigating Officer, former Warrant Officer Marumo. It was later discovered that Marumo was working for Ndlovu after he falsified court information."

Former Warrant Officer Marumo was later dismissed from the South African Police Services and sentenced to three years imprisonment for defeating the ends of justice.
