The Sol Plaatje Municipality in the Northern Cape is offering discounted payments to residents on their municipal accounts today - popularly known as Black Friday. Municipal spokesperson, Sello Matsie, says the aim is to provide relief to residents who may experience financial difficulties. Matsie says the municipality will be availing this special to those with municipal debt, which is 90-days overdue.

An additional 20% both for metered services - water and electricity - and non-metered services, which include rates and taxes, will be offered as a special.

"The balance of the account once the discount has been effected, must be paid in full as a one-off payment. We urge residents to speak to the credit-control section to determine the discount"

Matsie, in a statement, confirms discounted offers will extend throughout the festive season until December 31.
