His arrest follows after the 54-year-old driver of the bus died during the crash which also saw 49 others injured.

The provincial police spokesperson, Motantshi Makhele, confirms that a case of culpable homicide was opened against him. He explains that it appears the truck driver was making a U-turn in the road when the bus collided with the trailer of that truck.

He is expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate court on Wednesday.
