Flooded graves in Vanderbijlpark─── 11:40 Sun, 03 Jan 2021
Recent rains have flooded the graves at the Vanderbijlpark cemetery in Gauteng, with the contractor at the cemetery reportedly refusing to drain the water out of the graves.
Bereaved family members stood at the cemetery for more than an hour at the weekend, with bodies in hearses, as they used baskets to empty the graves.
The contractor at the cemetery is refusing to drain the water as the Emfuleni local municipality allegedly does not pay him for this service.
This morning municipal media officer, Makhosonke Sangweni, told OFM News that the municipal offices will open on Monday for the New Year, adding they will try to find an amicable solution to the problem then.
