#MatricExam marking starts in NW─── 12:40 Tue, 05 Jan 2021
Matriculants are nervously awaiting their results as the marking of exam papers in the North West is expected to start on Wednesday.
Markers are being prepared and trained ahead of time to ensure the process runs smoothly. The spokesperson for the Department of Education in North West, Elias Malindi, says to ensure COVID-19 regulations are adhered to they have availed 350 centres and 3326 markers. Markers are being accommodated in hostels for the duration of the marking period - ending January 21.
According to Malindi, every educator who is marking will be screened prior to marking, and every day thereafter. He tells OFM News that teachers will be restricted to certain places to ensure that they safeguard the health of every marker. Finally, he adds that markers have come from all over the province to mark and that the marking process is based on markers’ achievements of the previous year, including their approved application to mark.
